Vienna-The Austrian federal government
wants to bring the long-term unemployed back to work. The government is
investing 400 million euros in the project.
One
and a half million people in Austria have been unemployed for more than a year.
The "Action Spring Board" project launched by the federal government
will begin today. It aims to bring one-third of the long-term unemployed back
to the labor market. It's primarily about the elderly unemployed and those who
were unemployed before the Corona Crisis.
The resources of the Public Employment
Service AMS will be increased in the summer. Affected individuals begin with a
three-month working training course. As part of the program, the government
supports companies that hire long-term unemployed people. Up to 67% wage
subsidy will be given for 12 months. The average integration aid must increase
by up to 50%. By the end of the year, 15,000 people should be able to find work
again, and by the end of next year, it should be 50,000. In total, the
government is spending 400 million euros on the project.
